Let’s Hypnobirth Baby teaches the respected Hypnobirthing Australia™ program that has been uniquely designed for Australian mothers and their birth partner by Clinical Hypnotherapist, Melissa Spilsted, Director of Hypnobirthing Australia.
During classes you will learn relaxation, light self-hypnosis, visualisation and breathing techniques to practice leading up to and during the birth itself. These tools are designed to assist you to confidently and joyfully approach the birth of your baby rather than fearing the experience.
The ‘hypno’ part of ‘hypnobirthing’ refers to the light hypnotherapy that we use during the course to release fears and condition ourselves to release endorphins (feel good hormones) during the birth. The course is designed to “re-wire” our thinking and let go of the negative preconceived fears often associated with birth thanks to the likes of Hollywood and the birthing ‘war stories’ we so often read and hear.
Empowered by clear evidence based information and practical techniques, you will be filled with confidence knowing that you have positioned yourself to achieve YOUR best birth experience, whatever course the birth of your baby takes. Hypnobirthing isn’t an ‘alternative’ antenatal method or a new trend for hippies or Boho mums! The course draws on our own innate primal knowledge of birth and is complimented by the experience and research of many modern day birth professionals such as French Obstetrician Michel Odent and Australian GP & Author of ‘Gentle Birth, Gentle Mothering’ Dr Sarah Buckley.
The course has been designed to prepare you for both vaginal or caesarean birth ensuring that you are well prepared for whatever turns the birth of your baby may take.

During the course, you and your birth partner will gain an understanding of how the birthing muscles work in perfect harmony when your body is relaxed and you have faith in your body and natural ability to birth.
Techniques that you learn through the course will help you achieve a deep state of relaxation, enabling your body to open up without resistance. In this calm state, your body’s natural relaxant, endorphins, replace the stress hormones which can cause your uterus to constrict and create tension and pain.
Your birth partner will learn ways to help you throughout pregnancy and birth. This is very useful for the mother and very empowering for the birth partner as the advantage of a well prepared and confident birth partner cannot be underestimated.
When you birth your baby using hypnobirthing techniques, you are not in a trance or asleep. In fact you are experiencing a heightened state of awareness – awake, but deeply relaxed. You may appear to be asleep at times, however, you will be absolutely aware of what is going on around and you will find that you are calmly in tune with your body and your baby… just the way it is meant to be!
